For over twenty years as a professional singer and conductor, Robert Gardner has made community outreach a consistent priority in his life and career. Due to the intimate way in which he experiences music in various forms, he seeks to share it with those from all walks of life, in all conditions. This experience was reflected and strengthened by winning the international award, then keeping an ongoing association with the Pro Musicis Foundation, under whose auspices he has now performed over twenty concerts. His outreach appearances, in addition to locations like hospices, retirement homes and drug rehabilitation facilities, include a musical response to the 9/11 attacks for victims’ families, and his personal organization and execution of choral-orchestral concerts, including the Faure Requiem and Carmina Burana, presented to raise funds and bring awareness to Haitian earthquake victims.

Pro Musicis, through its ceaseless efforts, continually confirms the tangible uses of the healing properties of music, practiced at its highest levels, in places where people experience the toughest sides of the human condition. These happen along side presentations in major recital halls like Carnegie’s Weill Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, the Salle Cortot in Paris, the Opéra Municipal in Marseille, and Pickman Hall at Longy School of Music in Cambridge.

However, the very words “Pro Musicis” mean “For Musicians.” This important aspect of its founding principles shows an equal emphasis to teach artists this extremely important side of the art form. When one reaches out and truly experiences the raw power music brings in this most practical context, then one truly knows the value of their art. Since 1965 Pro Musicis has been performing this extremely valuable supplement to artist development while answering many needs in the communities they serve.

This cause most deeply reflects Robert Gardner’s vision for societal change through the arts as the perception of its practical value continually diminishes. If this web page brings donations to Pro Musicis it would be deeply appreciated. Your funds will be put to extremely good use with extremely modest overhead. Also, join their mailing list for news of their events either on their sign-up page or on Facebook.
